Most workplaces now have contractors of doing a variety of different types of work. Under Section 21 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (2004), the employer has a duty of care not only to direct employees but also to independent contractors, and employees of these contractors.
Use this checklist to ensure that your employer has considered the health and safety of any contractors at the workplace, and has taken measures to ensure that the work the contractors do does not create risks for other workers.
WorkSafe Victoria has information, resources and tools for Labour Hire, including assessment checklists. Go to the Labour Hire Topic Information page.
