BURNOUT RATES SOAR: HEALTHCARE HARDEST HIT

A survey conducted by the State Centre for Work Health and Safety reveals a surge in burnout rates, partly attributed to isolated work environments.

The report highlights the emergence of complacency towards critical safety issues.

Findings indicate high levels of psychosocial harm in Australian workplaces, with two-thirds of respondents experiencing burnout, over two-thirds facing workplace bullying, and 16.3% reporting poor psychosocial quality.

The healthcare sector is particularly affected, with frequent bullying, sexual harassment, and limited awareness of workers' rights.

The normalization of chronic understaffing and the increase in remote work contribute to the rise in psychosocial harm.
