SHORT PROGRAM REDUCES STRESSFUL INTERRUPTIONS

A three-hour coaching program developed by Swiss researchers from the University of Bern's Institute of Psychology aims to help supervisors recognise and reduce unnecessary interruptions in the workplace, which can negatively affect employees' health.

The program raises awareness among supervisors about the impact of interruptions and provides strategies for redesigning work arrangements to minimise them.

By sensitising supervisors to the issue and offering practical solutions, the program helps reduce interruptions during both work hours and leisure time.

The researchers emphasise the importance of supervisor-driven interventions in creating a work environment that fosters uninterrupted, focused work and highlight the program's effectiveness in facilitating open discussions among supervisors.

Its developers claim the program's per-team training format can be applied to companies of all sizes, and the low effort required made it a highly available intervention.
