NETHERLANDS: PSYCHOSOCIAL FACTORS LEADING CAUSE OF OCC DISEASE

The most common cause of occupational diseases in the Netherlands in 2023 were work-related psychosocial factors, according to the 'Occupational Diseases in Focus' report by the Netherlands Centre for Occupational Diseases (NCvB). The next most common causes were disorders of the musculoskeletal system, neurological disorders, infectious diseases, hearing disorders, pulmonary and respiratory diseases, and skin disorders.

The report, which is only available in Dutch, is an annual publication providing a comprehensive overview of occupational diseases reported in the Netherlands. It includes data on the incidence and types of occupational diseases, as well as analyses of trends over time and the identification of emerging risks in the workplace. 

The sectors with the highest prevalence of occupational diseases are government and public administration, healthcare and social work, and industry. The three economic sectors with the highest incidence of occupational diseases are business services, construction and manufacturing.
