SafetyNet were kindly invited to attend the Managing Psychological Risks in Manufacturing Conference on Monday at Southbank, during which insights gained at participating sites were shared by HSRs, managers and academics involved in the project.
The Conference was hosted by AMWU VIC Branch and WorkSafe Victoria, and formed part of a 2-year project, 'Collaboration Delivers Wellbeing in Manufacturing' involving 3 manufacturing companies and the AMWU.
Bringing together specialists in the field and actual workplace case studies, participants gained insights into improving workplace cultures and practices to establish a psychologically healthy workplace.
The program explored the link between better psycho-social safety outcomes and the involvement of HSRs, delegates and workers, collaborating with managers, to identify hazards and implement controls.
HSRs heard that where managers and workers can successfully collaborate the benefits are safer and healthier workplaces, and a culture that can be used to address issues, more broadly.
