INSPECTORS DESERVE A SAFE WORKPLACE TOO

The chief executive of the Victorian Building Authority (VBA) has resigned following criticism from staff and Unions regarding shocking stress and bullying.

A WorkSafe investigation into the VBA following the suicide of inspector Rob Karkut concluded that the targets set by the VBA led to impossible KPIs and significant workload pressures and made the workplace unsafe.

Rob's family, friends and comrades gathered outside the VBA early Friday morning, one year after the inspector took his life, to call for justice and changes that ensure no more workers is exposed to dangerous conditions.

Last Friday the Premier committed to fixing the troubled authority, declaring ‘it’s got to be better.’

Psychosocial hazards such as these continue to lead to the injury of Victorian workers every year. There is no news as to when Victoria will follow the lead of other Australian states and implement  psychological health regulations.
