Victorian workers, employers and health and safety representatives will have the opportunity to connect with industry experts and explore current workplace safety issues during WorkSafe Victoria’s annual Health and Safety Month in October.

The program begins on Thursday 1 October with 37 free in-person events across 17 locations, followed by 12 online webinars covering a range of workplace health and safety topics.
The sessions are designed to provide practical information, tools and resources to help workplaces identify and manage risks, prevent harm and improve safety and wellbeing.
This year’s program includes a particular focus on high-risk industries, including healthcare and social assistance, construction, manufacturing, agriculture and the public sector. Psychological health in Victorian workplaces will also be a key focus.
Construction workers can attend tradies’ breakfast events in Laverton and Traralgon, while specialised sessions will address mining and quarrying in Dandenong and Bacchus Marsh, farm safety in Tatura and manufacturing in Dandenong.
The online program will cover topics including psychological health, worker consultation and representation, safety innovation, workplace exposure limits, fall prevention and reducing WorkCover premiums.
WorkSafe Chief Executive Officer Cathy Henderson says the program will provide an opportunity for participants to update their knowledge and learn from health and safety experts. The sessions will also provide an opportunity for participants to ask questions about workplace health and safety issues and concerns, with each event including a question-and-answer component.
