WORKSAFE LAUCHES FREE NOISE BASICS WORKSHOPS

WorkSafe is launching a free, online occupational health and safety (OHS) Noise Basics workshop for employers, managers, supervisors in Victoria.

Noise Basics is a free education program helping Victorian employers who manage occupational health and safety (OHS) in small to medium businesses. Get practical tools to prevent noise-related injuries, improve safety and support a more productive workplace.

Occupational noise is any sound in the workplace, wanted or unwanted, that can damage hearing. It continues to be a common workplace hazard, with hearing loss claims making up 85% of all occupational disease claims. Common sources of occupational noise include heavy machinery, power tools, assembly lines, industrial vehicles and loud impact noises (hammering, cutting).

While workers in a range of industries can be exposed to noise, Noise Basics is ideal for those working in high risk industries like manufacturing, construction, transport and agriculture.

The workshop will help employers to:

  • understand workplace noise and what makes it hazardous
  • improve their risk management practices in relation to noise
  • improve employee wellbeing and support a safe place to work
  • understand OHS responsibilities and improve compliance
  • access free resources and practical support tools
  • feel confident to proactively identify risks and prevent noise related workplace injuries
  • improve productivity and reduce absenteeism in your workplace
  • improve employee wellbeing and workplace culture through your commitment to safety

·         improve compliance

The workshops are designed for Victorian employers, managers and supervisors with OHS responsibilities from small and medium-sized businesses (1-199 employees), including full-time, part-time and casual workers.
