Noise remains a significant workplace hazard, particularly in industries where workers are exposed to machinery, power tools, production lines, vehicles and impact noise. In fact, hearing loss makes up 85% of all occupational disease WorkCover claims. WorkSafe is rolling out a Noise Basics program with practical information on identifying and managing occupational noise, understanding their OHS responsibilities and recognising early signs of noise-related injury.

The free online workshops are aimed at employers, managers and supervisors with OHS responsibilities, but the resources may also be useful for HSRs when identifying and consulting on controls for noise risks with their employer. Several workshops are still available during September, October and November.
