ASBESTOS NEWS: ACTU LOOKS TO ACCELERATE REMOVAL

With the 20th anniversary of the asbestos ban in Australia approaching, and the development of a the National Strategic Plan, the ACTU is eager to accelerate asbestos removal efforts.

To facilitate this, the ACTU is hosting a 'Future of Asbestos Removal in Australia’ forum which will bring together union officials, representatives from ASEA and VAEA, ADDRI, and asbestos support groups.

Its purpose is to update affiliates on the current state of asbestos management in Australia and explore policy options necessary for the elimination of asbestos-related diseases (ARD).

SafetyNet will be in attendance and look forward to reporting back.
