ANOTHER WORKER KILLED

It is with great sadness that we report that a worker was killed last Thursday 12 September when he was struck by a falling metal bucket at a concrete manufacturer in Werribee.  This fatality means that two Victorian workers were killed last week.

Preliminary reports indicate that the 36-year-old worker was using a winch to position a mould for casting when the metal bucket, which was holding a length of chain, broke free from the top of a gantry, striking him on the head.

WorkSafe is investigating the fatality.

The VTHC sends its sincerest condolences to the worker’s family, friends, and work colleagues. Every death is preventable.  Mourn the dead and fight like hell for the living!

The death is the 29th confirmed workplace fatality for 2024. There were 55 work-related deaths at the same time last year. Source: WorkSafe Victoria news
