S.T.I.R. INCIDENT REVIEW APP: FREE TRAINING

WorkSafe are offering free training for healthcare and social assistance workplaces to learn how the STIR app can assist in reviewing incidents and preventing future injuries.

STIR stands for Systems Thinking Incident Review. The practical app was developed by the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) to help occupational health and safety (OHS) professionals to:

  • examine all factors that may have contributed to a workplace incident
  • identify actions to make safety improvements.

Employers should review and update risk controls each time a workplace injury is reported, and the STIR app is one way to do so.

The free, online training is delivered by the QUT team, and will help healthcare and social assistance workplaces to:

  • demonstrate the app’s benefits to your organisation
  • apply a systems thinking approach to incident review
  • gain hands-on experience using the STIR app.

The training is designed for Victorian occupational health and safety professionals who work in the healthcare and social assistance industry. HSRs may wish bring this training to the attention of their manager – even better, both attend the training.
