On 21 and 22 August over 200 union women and gender diverse unionists came together for two days for the Women's Rights at Work Conference 2026 - Women to the Front.
We shared our collective wins, struggles and the changes that women in union have been making in their workplaces!
We heard from amazing speakers during the Organising for Psychosocial Health at Work panel about the women HSRs who are changing the face of OHS and fighting for safety in the workplace using the new psychosocial regs. After the panel, over 30 HSRs and OHS leaders came together for a women HSRs network chat, connected with each other, and made takeaway actions to address the challenges they experience as women and gender diverse HSRs.
We heard from Rail Tram and Bus Union (RTBU) members about the It's a Bloody Mess campaign which documents the shocking standard of toilet and sanitary access in member workplaces. For women members in particular, conditions are sub-standard, unsafe, unhygienic and undignified. As part of the campaign over 800 women RTBU members were surveyed. The findings were confronting, with over 72% of women stating they had suffered health related to the inadequate toilet facilities.
