AHRC LAUNCHES POSITIVE DUTY ANIMATIONS

S*xual harassment is one of the areas which ‘cross over’ between OHS and Human Rights laws.

The Australian Human Rights Commission has launched three short animations to help promote understanding of the positive duty under the S*x Discrimination Act 1984 (Cth).

These animations are designed to increase understanding on:

  • What is the positive duty?
  • What is work-related s*xual harassment?
  • The role of organisations and businesses in preventing s*xual harassment
  • The right to be safe and respected at work

The links to the animations are:

  1. What is the positive duty?
  2. Positive duty and reporting to the AHRC
  3. Positive duty: Customers, Clients and Contractors

The animations aim to make it easier for individuals and businesses to understand the importance of complying with the positive duty in eliminating sexual harassment and discrimination in the workplace.

For more in-depth guidance on the law, compliance, enforcement, and practical examples of actions that businesses can take, the Commission provides detailed resources such as:

The materials have been translated into seven community languages and an Easy Read version, making the resources more inclusive. We are also currently working on getting audio descriptions of the videos and will update the page with them when they are ready.
