NEW GUIDANCE ON CRYSTALLINE SILICA

Safe Work Australia has published Guidance for PCBUs: Working with crystalline silica substances, which can be found on the SWA website.

The guidance is in preparation for stronger regulations in place from 1 September 2024. These regulations will apply to all materials containing at least 1 per cent crystalline silica under amendments to the model WHS Regulations for crystalline silica substances. This guidance has been prepared ahead of the commencement of the new regulations to assist PCBUs understand their WHS duties in relation to crystalline silica as they apply from this date.
