MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT FOR EMPLOYEES OF BUSINESSES UNDER 200 STAFF

Deputy Premier and Minister for WorkSafe Ben Carroll has announced a new Worker Mental Health Support Helpline for workers in small and medium-sized businesses that don’t already have similar supports in place. Minister Carroll said the helpline will provide a similar service to an Employee Assistance Program.

With adults spending on average about a third of their life at work, workplaces play a critical role in protecting, improving and supporting the mental health of Victorians.

The pilot program is part of a WorkSafe Return to Work Victoria initiative to trial new ways to support Victorian workers, with input from unions and employer groups together with mental and occupational health experts. An annual review of the pilots will ensure they deliver outcomes for workers and value for money.

Text of flyer is “On this route you’re never alone. We’re here to help. Call 1800 318 421 Available to workers in the state of Victoria. Eligible for those who work for businesses that employ 200 or less.” Telus Health.

This service is for any Victorian worker employed by a business with less than 200 staff, and will support people from all types of workplaces, including those in industries where work can be physically demanding, emotionally taxing, or mentally stressful, such as construction, healthcare, transport and logistics, retail, and manufacturing.

You can talk about anything affecting your wellbeing — whether it’s work-related stress, family pressure, money concerns, or something personal. You don’t need to have the “right words” — just start the conversation. All calls and interactions with the support service are 100% confidential. Your employer will not be notified if you use the service.

Eligible workers can access up to four sessions each of free, confidential 24/7 support via telehealth or online by calling 1800 318 421.

Minister Carroll said, “This helpline will ensure more Victorian workers have access to counselling when they need it – making a real difference to mental wellbeing of workers across Victoria.”
