Yesterday we marked the unveiling of the Memorial Quilt at Victorian Trades Hall Council.
This quilt was a project born in 2003 when GriefWork brought together families who had lost a loved one in a workplace incident or as a result of workplace exposure.

Families gathered over several Saturday afternoons to create the quilt's 47 squares. The finished quilt was assembled by Shirley Rogers, whose son Stephen died in an act of workplace violence.
The room heard from Bette, Alannah and Lana who shared their stories and the critical support that GriefWork provides to mourning families as they navigate loss and the WorkCover system.
The quilt now hangs in the OHS training room at the Victorian Trades Hall Council as a reminder of the importance of fighting and advocating for safer, healthier workplaces. This is a fitting home for the Memorial Quilt as GriefWork (under its original name Partnership in Grieving Program) held its first gathering of families at Trades Hall in 1996.
