TONIGHT November 25: Dangerous Goods Advisory Group

The DGAG bimonthly meeting is a general networking / discussion update meeting, open to all, to discuss issues that are going on for Dangerous Goods and Chemical Regulation at the moment. Jeff Simpson, the convener of the DGAG, has informed us that the sixth DGAG Meeting for 2020, will be held next Wednesday 25 November, at 5.30pm - 7.30pm AEST.

The meeting will have a similar agenda to past meetings, but Jeff notes that a key Issue not discussed at the DGAG October Meeting is Victoria: Industry Health & Safety Buffers. He also notes there is a key draft for the DGAG to comment on: Australian Standards Draft AS 2243.2 Safety in Laboratories, Part 2: Chemical Aspects. Comment by 12 Jan 2021

  1. Hazardous Chemicals / Dangerous Goods Incidents 

  2. The ADG Transport Code & Changes in the UN Model Regs, IMDG Code, IATA Regs, NZ Regs etc

  3. Dangerous Goods (Storage & Handling), GHS Haz. Chemicals, & Environmental Risk Management of Industrial Chemicals

  4. Update on Classification and Training for Dangerous Goods

  5. Information sharing 

  6. Other meetings and events

  7. Discussion regarding a possible end of year event - possibly in a public garden

The following 1st DGAG meeting in 2021, will be on Wednesday 17th February 2021 (meetings are now the 3rd Wednesday of the month), as another DGAG Webinar Discuss/Chat Meeting at 5.30 - 7.30pm. This may become a combined physical meeting / webinar meeting in Port Melbourne or in South Melbourne.

Tuesday 8 December: Central Safety Group
Topic: What COVID-19 means for workplace safety

Central Safety Group is wrapping it up with the subject that has had such an impact on our lives and work these past eight months.

Join Professor David Caple when he discusses Covid-19 and workplace safety via zoom on Tuesday 8 December at midday. David has been working on COVID-related projects with the healthcare and government sectors during the crisis. He will reflect on the psychological and physical risks, ways these can be managed and what long-lasting impacts coronavirus could have on the workplace. He will then open the session for questions and discussion.

Participants are encouraged to join in and talk about what is being done in their own industry or workplace.  It should be an interesting session!

When: 12:00-1:00pm, Tuesday, 8 December, 2020 
How: Online via Zoom. Financial members will automatically be emailed the Zoom meeting link. (N.B. A video recording of the session will be available on the website exclusively for financial members.)
