Our annual HSR Conference is just around the corner! The theme this year is HSR Lifesavers.
When: Thursday, 27 October 2022, 8:30am - 2:30pm
Melbourne - Centrepiece Melbourne Park
Bendigo - Bendigo Trades Hall Council
Wodonga - La Trobe University
Portland - Portland Golf Club
Morwell - Italian Australian Sporting Club
It's no secret that active HSRs save lives. It's why this year we're talking all about mental health at work and insights from COVID-19.
The conference will kick off with addresses from Trades Hall Secretary, Luke Hilakari, Minister for Workplace Safety, Ingrid Stitt, and WorkSafe CEO, Colin Radford. Then we'll hear inspirational stories from other HSRs about how they worked with their union to save lives in COVID-19.
We'll then hear from our keynote speaker, Professor Ben Cowie. Ben is an infectious disease physician and epidemiologist who serves as Acting Chief in the Department of Health, Victoria. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Ben supported the Victorian Government's responses with a focus on community engagement, clinical care for people living with COVID-19, control of community transmission of infection, and helping establish Victoria's COVID-19 vaccination program. Few people know more about the COVID-19 pandemic in Victoria and its impact on workers.
We'll put skills and ideas to work by applying them to real-life situations. It's a great opportunity to meet and speak with HSRs in your industry.
As usual, this conference is WorkSafe Victoria approved under Section 69 so give your manager 14 days' notice for paid time off work to attend. Employers are required to give HSRs time off work with pay as is necessary to attend this Conference provided that 14 days’ notice is given. Deputy HSRs are not entitled to time off work with pay to attend this conference unless they are acting in the role of the HSR at the time of the training. However, we encourage all deputy HSRs to request paid time to attend. Click here to download the Section 69 Certificate of Approval for this conference.
Participants need to attend all sessions to receive a certificate of attendance which will be issued at the completion of the final session.
For the first time in two years, this conference is in person! You'll have more chances to connect with other HSRs, speakers, and trainers. Sign up here ASAP because numbers are limited. This is one you don't want to miss!
This conference was made possible by our friends at Slater and Gordon.
