COMCARE NATIONAL SAFETY MONTH EVENTS

Comcare proudly supports Safe Work Australia’s National Safe Work Month and are hosting a series of free events. This year’s theme, Safe work is for life, reflects the fundamental purpose of work health and safety: preventing work-related death, injury and illness, while recognising the long-term impact workplace harm can have on workers, families, businesses and communities.

Comcare are hosting a series of free online events that will highlight practical ways we can each contribute to safe and healthy work. Sessions include:

·         Safe work is for life: leadership, trust and mentally healthy work - Hear from Comcare CEO Colin Radford and National Mental Health Commission CEO David McGrath for a conversation exploring why safe and healthy work matters, and how organisations can create the conditions for people to speak up early, raise concerns, feel heard and access support.

·         Building mentally healthy and culturally safe workplaces
Led by Senior Clinical Psychologist Nasalifya Namwinga, this webinar will explore the protective workplace factors that support cultural safety, psychological health and reduce the risk of harm.

·         Mental Health Community of Practice: culturally safe workplaces in practice (in person workshop)
Creating culturally safe workplaces is essential to building a high-performing and diverse workforce where all employees can thrive. Presented by Steve Meyer, Senior Psychologist, National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA.

·         Creating sustainable workplaces through SMART work design
This webinar will explore how managers can use SMART work design to manage psychosocial risks to create sustainable workplaces.

·         Worker insights from Comcare's Psychosocial Inspection Program
Hear insights from more than 10,000 workers who participated in Comcare’s Psychosocial Inspection Program, including their experiences of psychosocial hazards, the tools and resources developed by Comcare, and what’s next for preventing work-related psychological harm.

·         From consultation to action: HSRs, managers and safety in practice
This HSR forum will explore how HSRs, managers and workers can work together to support safety, navigate change and turn workplace concerns into practical improvements.
