4-DAY WEEK TRIAL EXPANDED AFTER PSYCHOSOCIAL IMPROVEMENTS AT MEDIBANK

In one of the biggest trials of its kind in Australia, Medibank Group Lead – People, Spaces and Sustainability Kylie Bishop has said that the trial continues to deliver positive results. “We’ve seen significant and sustained improvements in employee engagement, job satisfaction and the health and wellbeing of participants, while maintaining business performance and customer outcomes,” she said.

As well as improved psychological wellbeing and work-life balance and positive shifts in health and wellbeing, the trial results are showing stable productivity, improved perceptions of performance and behaviours, less time spent on unproductive and low-value work and increased feelings of confidence to challenge entrenched processes and behaviours.

The 4-day week trial is one part of a larger cultural change at Medibank through a program called ‘work.reinvented’, which seeks to challenge conventional workplace norms and increase flexibility while maintaining performance and customer satisfaction.

It is based on the 100:80:100 model aimed at enabling employees to maintain 100% pay and reduce working hours to 80%, while maintaining 100% productivity.
