FEDERAL BUDGET FUNDS HSR PSYCH TRAINING

As part of the Federal budget's $27.4 million initiative to 'enhance workplace safety and fairness,' HSRs will be funded to undergo specialized training on implementing and upholding the recently introduced WHS psychosocial regulations.

$2 million has been allocated over two years to establish a focused training program designed for HSRs.

Other OHS budget measures include:

  • $10M allocated over 4 years to combat silicosis and silica-related diseases, including national strategy development.

  • Expansion of Asbestos Safety and Eradication Agency's responsibilities to cover silica-related diseases, with a dedicated team for long-term reforms in occupational lung diseases.

  • $57.3M to establish the independent Parliamentary Workplace Support Service, providing HR and WHS support to parliamentarians and staff. Addresses issues like bullying, sexual harassment, sexual assault, and implements policies for alcohol regulation in line with work health and safety obligations

Meanwhile Victoria continues to wait on our new psychological health regulations.
