This year we heard from keynote speaker and acting Chief Health Officer Professor Ben Cowie on the future of the government's COVID-19 response in Victoria and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on workers. Professor Cowie highlighted the amazing work done by frontline medical workers and the lessons that can be learned and applied to future pandemics. 

We also heard stories of how HSRs have used their powers to control infectious diseases and psychological hazards in their workplaces from HSRs across three vastly different industries. Josh spoke about his experience controlling COVID-19 on the wharves, Sheila spoke about how she issued a PIN on excessive workload and won monumental changes off the back of this action and Penny spoke about the day to day of being a HSR in the childcare industry. 

We heard about projects across different industries being led by union members to improve mental heath and well being in the workplace by controlling psychosocial hazards. 

After lunch, attendees participated in breakout groups to discuss how the ideas learnt can be implemented in their workplace.
